One Stone Soup is a community-owned space where people help each other live better, more sustainable lives. We believe that when everyone adds a small contribution — an idea, a skill, a recipe, a story — we can all share in something greater than the sum of its parts.

What We Do

Our mission is to help people meet their needs in ways that are:

• Healthy – for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
• Sustainable – reducing waste, carbon, and inequality.
• Connected – because wellbeing grows when we grow together.

The project begins with food — growing, sharing, cooking, and planning - but will expand into other areas of daily life guided by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

The Pebble System

To keep One Stone Soup fair and community-driven, we use Pebbles — our micro-credit system:

• You receive some free pebbles when you join.
• You can earn pebbles by sharing knowledge, helping others, or creating useful content.
• You can spend pebbles to access tools, features, or services on the site.
• You can buy pebbles to support the community and its future development.

It’s simple, transparent, and helps ensure everyone can participate.

Why “One Stone Soup”?

The name comes from an old story: a traveller arrives in a village with nothing but a stone, yet by inspiring everyone to add a little — a carrot here, a potato there — a rich soup is made that everyone enjoys.

It’s a story about sharing, trust, and the power of community. That’s what we’re building here.
