Lost wax Casting is the process of creating jewellery though creating a design in wax, making a ceramic mould and heating until the wax is removed, the metal is then poured into the mould.
I made 5 wax rings, 2 plain band rings, 2 pointed shaped rings and a wave shaped ring. I was not able to get the plain band rings cast as there were issues in their finish and they arrived at the casting company I used in an irreparable state. The 3 rings that returned cast in 925 sterling silver were finished by removing their casting supports, filing to size and any imperfections and wet sanding. I used a final polish to give them a clean shine.
The 3 rings have certain use cases that I had in mind. The wave shaped ring has a daily use case being worn as a casual accessory. The smaller pointed ring also has a daily use case but is also for a more formal application. The large, pointed ring is a statement piece for formal and celebratory events and could be an accessory to a suit.
